KAISERSCHOTE Event Catering is expanding its reach. The Cologne-based company is increasingly operating outside the Rhineland and aims to be recognised more strongly in future as an event caterer operating throughout Germany. A recent example is its collaboration with the international company Lifeplus. Following an event for around 1,000 international guests at The Frame in Düsseldorf, Lifeplus has now also commissioned KAISERSCHOTE for its next major event in Berlin.
The deciding factor was a corporate catering concept that went far beyond the traditional provision of food for guests. Together with Lifeplus, KAISERSCHOTE developed a menu in which selected products from the company itself became integral parts of the dishes.
Solis Green Medley was transformed into a pesto to accompany beetroot-marinated salmon. Solis Golden Popcorn was served alongside a grilled chicken breast with wild broccoli, parsnip and potato purée, and truffle jus. Solis Cacao Boost was incorporated into a dark mousse with toasted Arborio rice, salted caramel and oat crunch. The menu was complemented by vegan and allergen-friendly alternatives. “The products weren’t simply placed next to the plate. They became part of the dish,” says KAISERSCHOTE founder and managing director André Karpinski. “We don’t just deliver food. We translate brands into flavour.”
In addition to the creative integration of the clients’ products, KAISERSCHOTE had to tackle another operationally challenging task. The event combined fixed-order, clearly costed catering elements with food and drinks available for purchase on a walk-in basis. Whilst a fine-dining menu took centre stage on the first evening, the second day of the event called for speed, choice and a smooth flow of guests. Three identical indoor food stations, two food trucks, several drinks stations and a fully cashless payment system enabled over-the-counter sales to a large number of international guests.
Here too, Lifeplus products remained an integral part of the culinary experience. Solis Green Medley was used at the pasta station, omegOmega (OmegAhi Peach Mango) was incorporated into various sauces, and at a bowl and shaker station, guests were able to create their own combinations of yoghurt or skyr, toppings and Lifeplus products.
The combination of fixed-price catering and self-service sales is not yet the norm at corporate events. It requires not only culinary creativity, but also experience with stock management, payment systems, post-event stock-taking, guest flow and fluctuating demand patterns. For Lifeplus, it was precisely this combination that was a prerequisite for staging the event. Fine dining in the evening, food trucks and free-flow stations during the day: two different formats, but the same culinary signature.
The fact that Lifeplus is not relying on a local caterer for its next event, but is bringing KAISERSCHOTE from the Rhineland to Berlin, is seen by the company as confirmation of its Germany-wide focus. “For us, ‘Germany-wide’ doesn’t mean being able to do a bit of everything everywhere,” explains André Karpinski. “It means bringing our well-coordinated team, our creative ideas and our reliable processes to wherever our clients need us.”
The new Preferred Catering partnership with the Oceandiva Nova also expands KAISERSCHOTE’s operational reach. The partnership covers all destinations served by the event ship between Mainz and Duisburg. This enables KAISERSCHOTE to implement its catering concepts at various venues along the Rhine.
This supra-regional expansion is underpinned by lean organisational structures, short decision-making processes and operationally optimised workflows. These enable KAISERSCHOTE to combine creative and bespoke catering concepts with excellent value for money. As much of the client’s budget as possible should be channelled into areas where guests actually experience it: the products, the staff, the presentation and the flavour.
“Companies today expect creative concepts and reliable execution. At the same time, budgets aren’t getting any bigger,” says André Karpinski. “Our lean structures help us to bring both together. For us, creativity isn’t an additional cost; it’s part of the service.”
With the events for Lifeplus in Düsseldorf and Berlin, as well as the preferred catering partnership with the Oceandiva Nova, KAISERSCHOTE is pursuing a clear goal: In future, the company aims to be recognised not only as a leading caterer from the Rhineland, but also as a partner operating throughout Germany for corporate events, brand presentations and complex event formats.
André Karpinski, founder of KAISERSCHOTE, began his training as a chef in 1987 to pass the time whilst waiting for his university place and has “remained true to cooking, as it allowed me to turn my passion into a career.” The constant quest for the perfect dish unites him and his team, who have been responding flexibly to an ever-changing world with their culinary expertise for over 30 years. When people come together, the right culinary experience creates a connection, and contemporary event catering conveys a message. The careful use of resources and consideration of the ecological footprint in all strategic decisions and operational processes are now indispensable to him: “Through our sense of culinary purpose, we help ensure that delicious food, thoughtful presentation and sustainability remain an experience that constantly enriches one another!”
