With live music, family entertainment, culinary delights and numerous attractions, the Lake Festival offered a varied programme for all ages over the course of three days. With mostly sunny summer weather, there was a special atmosphere in the Seepark on all three days of the event.
This year’s Seefest centred on the Seepark’s 40th anniversary. Under the slogan ‘Sparkasse presents 40 years of the Seepark’, the Seefest was enhanced with special programme highlights.
One highlight was the water and laser show on Lake Flückiger, staged for the first time. It attracted thousands of visitors on both evenings and generated considerable interest far beyond the event site. An anniversary film, produced specifically by FWTM, was shown on a water screen, depicting the creation and development of the Seepark and bringing the past 40 years to life in a special way. The programme was rounded off by live music, walking acts, other attractions and a diverse range of food and market stalls. A total of 50 stalls were set up on the event site.
The stallholders also gave a positive assessment of the event weekend. Many reported high demand, with some stalls even selling out completely at times.
From the organisers’ perspective, too, the Seefest was an overwhelming success. There were no major incidents throughout the entire weekend. The festival took place peacefully and in a relaxed atmosphere.
The family programme, in particular, was once again very well received. The Children’s Olympics on Sunday attracted 500 children, who were able to put their skills to the test at various hands-on stations. The entry fees will once again go towards a charitable cause. A total of around €2,000 was raised.
Mayor Martin Horn says:
“The Seepark has been an important meeting place in Freiburg for 40 years. I am delighted that so many people came together to celebrate this anniversary at the Seefest. This shows just how important the Seepark is to our city. My thanks go to our FWTM and to Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau, which, as the main sponsor, provided significant support for the anniversary programme and thus contributed to the success of this special festival.”
Daniel Zeiler, Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau, explains:
“The Freiburg Seefest has impressively demonstrated how people come together and experience a sense of community. That is precisely why we are delighted to support this anniversary year as the main sponsor. It’s wonderful to see how positively the programme has been received.”
Katharina Schirmbeck, Managing Director of FWTM, gives a positive assessment:
“The record number of visitors, the huge response to the water and laser show, and the positive feedback from our stallholders show that the anniversary concept was a success. Our heartfelt thanks go to all our partners, volunteers and emergency services who made this special weekend possible.”
