New venue standards are set to simplify event planning

New technical guidelines establish uniform standards for event venues for the first time and make it easier to plan events.

The industry associations BDKV and INTHEGA published the “Technical Recommendations for Venue Standards” on 1 July 2026. For the first time, these define uniform requirements for the basic technical facilities of event venues. The recommendations distinguish between venues with up to 800 and up to 2,500 seats.

The new standards are intended to make technical requirements more comparable and to simplify collaboration between event organisers and venues. This will enable coordination processes to be organised more efficiently right from the planning stage.

The recommendations are particularly relevant for event planners, technical directors and venue scouts. Standardised venue standards make it easier to assess technical requirements and provide greater planning certainty for touring productions, concerts and corporate events.
