Marketing campaign launched: Braunschweig City Hall seeks to attract events

“With the comprehensive modernisation of our historic Stadthalle, we are carrying out the most ambitious municipal refurbishment project in years,” says Lord Mayor Dr Thorsten Kornblum. “We are investing here, in particular, in the future of Braunschweig as a conference and congress venue. The Stadthalle, which has been completely refurbished from the ground up, is of enormous significance for the economic and scientific influence of the ‘City of Lions’. A venue for everyone! Companies, research institutions, associations and clubs, as well as cultural event organisers both large and small, will benefit from the new flexibility and state-of-the-art facilities.”

Stephan Lemke, Managing Director of Braunschweiger GmbH, adds: “We want to re-establish the Braunschweig Stadthalle as the region’s premier venue for conferences and congresses. But we also want it to be the city’s ballroom and concert hall. We are now embarking on the active acquisition and marketing phase with great enthusiasm, so that we can secure the best dates for organisers following the reopening and beyond, right from today.” Thanks to the comprehensive refurbishment, the venue meets the very latest standards for a contemporary event location. “New venue options, innovative building and event technology, and the highest sustainability standards are compelling arguments when promoting high-calibre events for Braunschweig, which we are using to showcase the Stadthalle on the market,” emphasises Lemke.

Strategic market positioning and new customer acquisition are being driven by a multi-stage sales strategy that encompasses both direct customer contact and wide-ranging marketing activities. Plans include, amongst other things, targeted direct outreach to former anchor tenants, attractive early-booking incentives and flexible booking models for businesses. In addition, the Stadthalle will be showcased at relevant trade fairs and to industry associations using state-of-the-art venue visualisations. Exclusive site visits for event organisers are designed to bring the Stadthalle’s potential to life even whilst renovation work is underway, and to convey the venue’s unique atmosphere and the versatile ways in which the modernised venue can be used.

To complement the direct sales strategy, the Stadthalle will be integrated into the wider marketing of Braunschweig as a conference destination via the Convention Bureau of Braunschweig Stadtmarketing GmbH. Together with the ‘MEET Braunschweig’ partner network, the Convention Bureau is strengthening Braunschweig’s position as a venue for conferences, congresses and business events. The Stadthalle is a key component of this: it expands the range of events on offer in the City of Lions and creates additional potential for business tourism, which brings visitors and economic momentum to Braunschweig and promotes exchange between business and academia.

“The refurbishment of the Stadthalle is gathering momentum as we head towards the finish line. The demolition is largely complete and the reconstruction is in full swing. Despite a few setbacks, we are staying within both the timeframe and the budget.
