Procurement Acceleration Act: Public contracts will be awarded more easily

From July, public contracting authorities will be able to award contracts for services worth up to 50,000 euros in a much simpler way.

With the entry into force of the new Public Procurement Acceleration Act on 1 July 2026, simplified rules will apply to public tenders. In future, goods and services with a contract value of up to 50,000 euros net may be awarded by direct award without the need to conduct a formal procurement procedure.

In addition, young companies and start-ups will have better access to public tenders. In future, they will be able to provide alternative evidence if traditional references are not yet available due to their short history as a business.

These new regulations are particularly relevant for event agencies, exhibition stand builders, caterers and technical service providers. The simplified procurement procedures can facilitate access to public contracts from cities, local authorities, universities or federal agencies and reduce the bureaucratic burden, particularly for smaller projects.
