The Federal Government has issued a temporary exemption regulation on night-time noise protection to facilitate public outdoor events during the current FIFA World Cup. This allows local authorities to grant exemptions from the current noise protection regulations, meaning that broadcasts on big screens may take place even after 10.00 pm. The special regulation applies until 31 July 2026.
The regulation provides additional planning certainty for events taking place in the evening. However, it does not entail an automatic exemption. The decision remains with the relevant local authorities.
The regulation is particularly relevant for event venues with outdoor areas, open-air event organisers, catering establishments and agencies. Anyone planning fan zones, corporate viewing events or traditional public viewing should apply for the necessary permits well in advance.
