To enable public viewing events during the current FIFA World Cup, the Federal Government has issued a temporary exemption order. This allows towns and local authorities to grant exemptions from the usual noise protection regulations for outdoor broadcasts. This applies in particular to matches that, due to the time difference, continue into the late evening.
The special regulation applies until 31 July 2026. It creates additional opportunities for open-air events, but does not constitute automatic authorisation.
The regulation is particularly relevant for event venues with outdoor areas, catering establishments and agencies. The necessary permits for public viewings, fan zones or corporate viewing events must still be applied for from the relevant authorities. In addition, registration with FIFA is required for the broadcast of the matches.
