Sustainability in the events industry: pilot project for reusable logistics launched

A new pilot project on the circular economy in the events sector, funded by the federal government, was launched at the beginning of May. Under the name ‘Circular Event Logistics’, the aim is to develop standardised reusable and return systems for catering, trade fair and event equipment.

The project is seen as an important preparatory step for the planned extension of the mandatory use of reusable items from 2027. The aim is to significantly reduce waste at events and standardise sustainable logistics processes.

This is particularly relevant for catering companies, trade fair venues and event service providers. Those who adopt the new standards early on could gain an advantage in future public tenders and sustainability-focused projects.
