Stricter requirements for accessible booking and event platforms

New implementing regulations under the Act to Strengthen Accessibility are tightening the requirements for digital customer interfaces relating to bookings and events.

Under the implementing regulations adopted for the Act to Strengthen Accessibility (BFSG), digital customer interfaces must be made accessible in stages. These requirements apply not only to websites, but also to booking terminals, registration forms for participants and on-site ticket check-in machines.

This is particularly relevant for digital booking processes, online forms for corporate events and interactive information terminals in event venues. These must be designed in such a way that they can be used without difficulty by people with visual or motor impairments, for example via screen readers or a high-contrast mode.

For operators of booking and event platforms, as well as event organisers, this means placing greater emphasis on accessibility when planning and implementing events.
