With the digital conference‘Access Control at Events’on 15 October 2026, the Federal Association for Event Security (BVVS)iscontinuing its successful 2026 series of digital conferences. The aim of this full-day online event is to contextualise current developments, bring together practical experience and promote professional dialogue among all stakeholders.
The challenges facing event security have changed significantly in recent years. Events both at home and abroad have led organisers, licensing authorities and security managers to incorporate access control much more closely into their planning today, but have also created new uncertainties. However, practical experience shows that technical measures alone are not a sufficient response to the existing challenges. Equally crucial are clear lines of responsibility, transparent decision-making processes and close cooperation between all stakeholders.
The Federal Association for Event Security is therefore committed to fostering a technically sound discussion that takes a holistic view of security and focuses on practical solutions.
Protection against terrorist attacks is a state responsibility. Event organisers bear responsibility for the safe planning and execution of their events; however, they cannot and must not take on the primary duties of the security authorities.
It is precisely at this interface that uncertainties frequently arise in practice. Differing requirements, a lack of uniform standards and unresolved questions regarding the division of responsibilities complicate the planning of events in many places.
The digital conference addresses these issues and provides a forum for open, expert discussion. Experts from various fields will examine current developments, present potential solutions and discuss with participants how access control can be implemented effectively, proportionately and in a practical manner.
The digital conference is aimed in particular at event organisers, production managers, security managers, staff from local authorities and licensing bodies, as well as planners, consultants and other event security professionals.
The focus is not only on specialist presentations but, above all, on the exchange of experiences from day-to-day practice. The aim is to learn from one another, bring together different perspectives and jointly develop recommendations for action regarding the future implementation of access control.
Through its series of digital conferences, the Federal Association for Event Safety aims to provide up-to-date specialist knowledge, strengthen interdisciplinary dialogue and provide long-term support for the further development of event safety.
